Purpose

The Flowline Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, repair, maintenance, and recertification of flowline equipment used throughout the oil and gas industry. This position supports all phases of equipment processing, including disassembly, cleaning, inspection, documentation, pressure testing, repair, assembly, and final quality verification.

IFE offers a structured technician development program designed to progress employees from entry-level trainees to highly skilled inspection and testing professionals.

Technician Career Progression

Tier 1 – Shop Support / NDT Trainee

Ideal for individuals entering the industry and learning the fundamentals of flowline equipment, safety, and inspection operations.

Responsibilities may include:

• Equipment cleaning and preparation
• Material handling and staging
• Tool identification and usage
• Learning flowline components and terminology
• Shop support activities
• Following safety procedures and work instructions
• Assisting experienced technicians

Training Focus:

• Safety & PPE
• Flowline equipment identification
• Documentation and traceability
• Basic measurement techniques
• Introduction to Visual Inspection (VT)
• Introduction to NDT processes

Tier 2 – Flowline Technician I / Level I Development

For individuals who have demonstrated competency in shop operations and are ready for increased responsibility.

Responsibilities may include:

• Equipment disassembly and assembly
• Basic inspection support
• Pressure testing support
• Equipment staging and documentation
• Identification of damaged components
• Traceability and inspection documentation

Training Focus:

• Visual Inspection (VT)
• Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT) exposure
• Pressure testing exposure
• Inspection documentation
• Gauging and measurement verification
• NDT on-the-job training

Tier 3 – Flowline Technician II / Level II Development

For experienced technicians capable of performing inspection, testing, and repair activities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities may include:

• Performing complete equipment rebuilds
• Conducting visual inspections
• Assisting with pressure testing operations
• Completing inspection documentation
• Evaluating equipment condition
• Supporting quality and production objectives
• Mentoring junior technicians

Training Focus:

• Advanced Visual Inspection
• Ultrasonic Thickness Testing
• Pressure Testing Operations
• Quality Verification
• Technical Decision Making
• NDT Certification Development

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Disassemble, inspect, repair, assemble, and pressure test flowline equipment
• Clean, prepare, and stage equipment for inspection and repair
• Follow inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements
• Complete inspection and traceability documentation accurately
• Operate hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment
• Identify damaged, worn, or non-conforming components
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment
• Participate in safety meetings and training programs
• Follow all company, customer, and industry safety requirements
• Assist with inventory control and equipment accountability
• Support operational goals and production schedules
• Demonstrate alignment with company core values
• Contribute to overall team success

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Ability to work in industrial and shop environments
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds
• Strong work ethic and dependability
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
